August Events from\u00a0Bee Wild West Wales,\u00a0Bumblebee Conservation Trust\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There are bumblebee blitz events in August – please see the posters below. Apologies that some of these are already passed.\u00a0 The focus of these sessions is to visit sites which are being actively managed for conservation but which have yet to be surveyed for bumblebees (apart from Dowrog Common, which has been surveyed before). The July events were a success and Clare (Flynn, Outreach Officer) was astounded by the quality of the sites in terms of floral diversity and habitat quality.\u00a0 For those of you who may like to come along to Dowrog Clare will be on the hunt for Broken Belted Bumblebee (Bombus soroeensis) which, apparently, has not been seen there since 1988<\/p>\n

Please also note: Free\u00a0Intermediate Identification Training Day, August 16th – Foundry House Pembroke, 10.30 until 4pm.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is aimed at people who have completed beginners training or have reasonable ID knowledge of the common bumblebee species. We will be recapping on beginner ID and also looking at cuckoo bumblebees and some of the more rare species of social bumblebee, including the carder bees. We will spend the morning in Foundry House and weather permitting, will travel to Stack Rocks in the afternoon to walk along the coast and put our skills into action!<\/p>\n
